Knox, a young woman, had spent almost her entire childhood in the bustling city of Rovere with her father. Her father worked closely with the city's administrator to provide the town with contract services, which made him a well-known figure in the city's affairs. Although Knox's parents were no longer together, she continued to live with her father until she was old enough to pursue her studies in the Great Library of Law in Ar.

Throughout her childhood, Knox received homeschooling and private tutoring from various teachers, who helped her develop a love for learning. As she grew older, she also started to assist her father in his work, which allowed her to gain practical experience in contract services. 

Despite her father's profession, Knox had a sheltered upbringing. She was confined to her father's house behind high walls and was rarely allowed to enter the city unless she attended social events or went to the Rovere library. However, this did not deter her from developing a solid curiosity and an eagerness to learn about the world around her. Lady Knox would often come across books stashed away in the darkest reaches of the library, and she would often find books that retold the stories of slave girls and their Gorean Masters. She would read these quietly, began reading these novels, and hid them in her compartments. 

Eventually, the time came for Knox to fulfill her caste's obligations. She was excited to embark on this new journey and eager to see what the future held for her. Knox of Rovere has journeyed with her favorite traveling companion, Greer, along the Road of Cypranus, Pilgrims Road, and Treasure Road to the City of Ar, where she studied at one of the great Law Library of Ar. She was an excellent pupil and now has reached the point in her education where she is being sent to various parts of the Gorean world to lend her services and to gain a better understanding of law practices in small villages to the great cities before her full initiation as a member of the caste.

After Lady Knox was taken into slavery, her life would undergo a significant change. Being enslaved would mean that she would be stripped of all her rights and freedoms, and she would no longer be able to live her life as she did before. Moreover, her family would be ashamed and embarrassed by her enslavement, which would lead to her being disowned. This would cause Lady Knox to lose all ties with her loved ones, resulting in her navigating a new life.
